The captivating world of Wicked is ready to captivate moviegoers once again. Adapted from the original novel by Gregory Maguire, the story has won the hearts of fans around the world, from a Broadway musical to two successful feature films.

Vinnie Holzman, a key co-writer of the story, not only wrote the book for the Broadway show, but also co-wrote the screenplays for “Wicked” and “Wicked: For Good” with Dana Fox. “For Good,” released on November 21, follows the groundbreaking success of the first film, earning critical acclaim and a whopping $748 million worldwide. The second film marks the final installment of the Broadway musical, but fans are eagerly awaiting more.

Holzman sat down with ScreenRant's Liam Crowley on the red carpet at the Tish Gala in New York City recently. When asked about her thoughts on the possibility of expanding the Wicked story into a third film after the huge success of the first two films, Holzman had an interesting answer.

She revealed that while "For Good" was a satisfying conclusion to the musical's story, there have been some initial discussions about a third film. However, she clarified that the idea is still in its early stages, and "nothing has really been set in stone." The comments have sparked new hope among fans, as Wicked's colorful world and complex characters offer plenty of room to explore.

Despite the growing speculation about Wicked's future, Holzman's answer is cautiously optimistic. "A little bit. Yeah, a little bit. Nothing really," she said, suggesting that while there are ideas for a third film, they are still in the early stages.

Perhaps the story will explore new adventures in the magical world of Oz or provide a deeper understanding of already beloved characters. For now, fans can bask in the success of "Wicked: For Good" and hope that this iconic tale will return with another chapter in the future. Wicked's enchanting narrative, coupled with the power of its music, proves that there is still much to be said.
